Kristin McHugh-Johnston from Greater Peoria

Kristin is a passionate community volunteer. She chairs the designer decorator committee for Crittenton Center’s Festival of Trees. She also decorates for the Des Moines Festival of Trees and Lights. It’s not usual to see specs of glitter on her when she walks into the shop. A former international radio journalist, she helps WCBU Peoria Public Radio part-time (so she still has time to design and decorate dozens of trees annually). She’s worn glasses since age 2. Cat-eye frames are her signature style. Her newest favorites are Feb 31st and Francis Klein.

Of Specs Around Town, this is what Kristin has to say . . . Specs is a true Midwest gem for eyewear! I used to fly to New York with prescription in hand because I’m always seeking unique frames that no one else in the Midwest will have. Once I discovered Specs Around Town upon relocating to central Illinois, New York trips were no longer necessary. Julie curates an incredible selection of unique and FUN frames in a variety of price points. I never worry I will see someone else wearing my frames!
